Hanging Tips for Painters & Decorators
-
Step 1
Prepare the wall by filling any holes or irregularities. Do not use a lining paper before hanging
-
Step 2
Roll the adhesive onto the wall using ”GLASSTEX Essential Ready Mixed Adhesive”
-
Step 3
Cut the fabric in lengths. Measure the height of the wall +10 cm. For pattern matching allow extra fabric
-
Step 4
Apply the fabric at the ceiling and press down. Make sure that the first length hangs vertically
-
Step 5
The fabric has trimmed edges, which allows hanging edge to edge
-
Step 6
Press well onto the surface with a plastic spatula or a steel putty knife with rounded corners
-
Step 7
Trim neatly at the ceiling and floor using bladed knife and straight edge
-
Step 8
Paint the wall when the fabric has dried. Use an angled brush or a small radiator roller along ceiling, floor etc. Then apply the paint with a roller. Two coats of paint are normally enough.
Maintenance & Repairs
-
Step 1
Cut wallcovering a few inches larger than damaged area. Line up with wallcovering. Tape into position over damaged area.
-
Step 2
Double cut both the new piece of GLASSTEX and the damaged GLASSTEX to ensure a precise seam when the repair is finished.
-
Step 3
Remove both the new piece of GLASSTEX and the damaged wallcovering. Note the orientation of the patch so it can be properly installed later.
-
Step 4
If wall is not badly damaged, repairs may not be needed. Apply adhesive to the area where the wallcovering was removed. If damage is extensive, you may need to repair the area.
-
Step 5
Place the GLASSTEX patch onto the repair area, and carefully line up the pattern or texture. Firmly brush GLASSTEX into the adhesive. There is no need to roll edges or seams.
-
Step 6
Paint the patch with a roller using the same paint that was originally used. The combination of paint and GLASSTEX pattern result in a neat professional patch.
